Before I answer this question, here’s what most dermatologists and aestheticians believe.
Under Eye Creams Are an Expensive Scam.
1. The Droop or Sagging. Ptosis occurs due to lower concentration of collagen and elastin fibers in the under eye area. Collagen and elastin are proteins that contribute to the skin's elasticity and firmness. Their reduced presence in the under eye area makes the skin there more prone to sagging and wrinkling.
2. Darkening. The skin under the eyes has more visible blood vessels. Due to its thinness, the blood vessels are more apparent, which can contribute to dark circles, especially if there is increased blood flow or pooling of blood in this area.
3. Dryness. When that taut look vanishes and sebaceous gland activity plummets, dry patches and the eventual wrinkles are a given. We all know too well the itching and the stretchiness that signal the appearance of minute folds and deep ravines … developing into wrinkles.
4. Puffiness. The under eye area can have different lymphatic drainage patterns compared to the rest of the face. Poor lymphatic drainage in this area can lead to puffiness or bags under the eyes.
Logic says there is no ONE SIZE FITS ALL solution!
The popular cosmetic advice is to simply take your regular serums and lotions up to your under eyes, and work them in.
And then turn to invasive procedures like hyaluronic acid filler injections into the tear troughs for a more pronounced perk up.
